Les Assises de l’économie de la Mer 2025 in La Rochelle : Innovation and Transition at the Heart of Discussions

On 4 and 5 November 2025, La Rochelle hosted the 20th edition of the Assises de l’Économie de la Mer, a major annual event that brings together more than 1,500 stakeholders from the French and European maritime sector. This key gathering dedicated to the future of the industry unites decision-makers, industrial leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs around a shared objective: shaping the maritime world of tomorrow.

This anniversary edition featured several high-level institutional addresses, including those by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, Alain Rousset, President of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, and Catherine Chabaud, Minister Delegate for the Sea and Fisheries.

Discussions focused on essential topics such as economic sovereignty, technological innovation, maritime planning, training, and the ecological transition.

Among the participants, Laurent Da Rold, founder of Chantier de l’Arsenal and Yacht Concept, attended alongside economic, institutional and industrial leaders from across the maritime sector. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the key issues of innovation, performance and eco-responsibility driving the French naval industry.

Over the course of the two days, numerous round-table discussions explored major themes of the blue economy:

– competitiveness and economic sovereignty,

– maritime innovation and research,

– sustainable coastal development,

– maritime training and employment,

– ecological and energy transition.

Once again, this event highlighted the dynamism of the La Rochelle region and its leading role in shipbuilding and the wider maritime industries.
