The first positive-energy shipyard in the world
ATELIER ONE SHAPE
An innovating shipyard
Innovation and environmental performance
In the spring of 2023, we launched the construction of our new shipyard, the Atelier One Shape, next to the cargo port of La Pallice. This 3,800 m² building, located on a 16,000 m² plot of land, will house the production of 8 to 10 giant multihulls each year. This project demonstrates our commitment to combining innovation and environmental performance.
A DARING & UNIQUE SHIPYARD
A 4 000m² factory
An ambitious, eco-responsible industrial project
At a time when the ecological footprint of industrial buildings is coming under increasing scrutiny, Chantier de l’Arsenal has taken on a project that is ambitious, visionary and unique in the world.
Atelier One Shape, which is located near the port of La Pallice, not only complies with current environmental standards, but exceeds them with a proactive, innovative approach. This 4,000 m² industrial building, built on a 16,000 m² plot of land, is part of an eco-responsible approach, where every detail has been designed to minimize environmental impact.
A low-carbon building
Sustainable, low-carbon materials
By choosing bio-sourced materials such as French wood and wood fiber, and integrating ecological technologies such as geothermal energy and photovoltaic panels, Atelier One Shape far exceeds environmental standards. This project is fully in line with the “La Rochelle Territoire Zéro Carbone” objective for 2040.
A DRIVING FORCE FOR GROWTH & INNOVATION
A production facility designed around the One Shape® process
An innovative factory to support development and innovation
The Atelier One Shape was entirely designed to industrialize the One Shape® process. This revolutionary process, which positions us as a benchmark in the control and optimization of flat panels, structures the entire organization of the workshop. The layout and layout have been designed to ensure an optimized production flow, guaranteeing a continuous progression of manufacturing stages, with no backtracking. This state-of-the-art industrial environment maximizes performance and innovation, fully exploiting the potential of the One Shape process to produce maxi-catamarans quickly, accurately and ecologically. With this unique infrastructure, Chantier de l’Arsenal asserts its leadership in shipbuilding.
A production facility designed around the One Shape® process
Chantier de l’Arsenal strengthens in-house production, creates local jobs
With the Atelier One Shape, Chantier de l’Arsenal has taken a new step in the industrialization of the One Shape process. The building has been designed to maximize production efficiency by integrating two 27 x 5-meter flat molds, enabling the manufacture of larger parts. This advance considerably reduces the number of assemblies, finishes, cut-outs and manufacturing times, guaranteeing productivity gains and a reduction in environmental impact.
The impact of this new infrastructure doesn’t stop there: it also supports local employment by encouraging the hiring of qualified laminators. What’s more, the immediate proximity of our service provider JEDO, specialized in cutting flat panels, enables us to optimize the entire logistics chain. This reduces transport costs and times, while limiting our carbon footprint, reinforcing our commitment to more responsible and sustainable production.
A POSITIVE-ENERGY, LOW-CARBON SHIPYARD
A model of energy efficiency
A positive energy shipyard
Atelier One Shape is much more than an industrial building: it’s a model of energy efficiency. Designed to be an energy-positive building, it will be able to produce more energy than it consumes, thanks to a combination of renewable technologies and intelligent construction practices.
Photovoltaic panels will cover a large surface area of the roof, generating electricity to power the entire facility, while a geothermal ground-source heating system will ensure optimal thermal comfort, without recourse to air conditioning.
This choice significantly reduces external energy requirements and limits greenhouse gas emissions associated with building operation.
A true pioneer in the shipbuilding sector
A benchmark in sustainable construction
In addition, the optimization of the building’s thermal envelope, the use of thermal inertia and natural ventilation contribute to interior temperature management without the need for energy-hungry systems. All these choices make Atelier One Shape a true pioneer in the shipbuilding sector, pointing the way to a more sustainable future, where technological innovation and environmental performance go hand in hand.
This project is part of a long-term vision that prefigures the future of eco-responsible industrial construction.
Design office on site
Un bureau d’études intégré
Greater synergy between Chantier de l’Arsenal and Yacht Concept
Atelier One Shape will house the 27-strong Yacht Concept design team directly on site. This proximity to the Chantier de l’Arsenal promotes optimum synergy between design and construction, guaranteeing innovative technical solutions and personalized support at every stage of the project. The presence of this team on site also means greater responsiveness and flexibility. This will reduce validation times and facilitate real-time adjustments, while ensuring fluid coordination between technical teams and other trades.
A sustainable approach to shipbuilding
Sustainable, high-performance offices
The design office space at Atelier One Shape is designed to encourage innovation and efficiency. Its architecture has been optimized to foster collaboration and creativity, with a bright, comfortable and eco-responsible working environment. The office benefits from sustainable materials, natural thermal comfort and innovative energy systems, guaranteeing an energy-efficient working environment. These offices support productivity while exceeding environmental standards. In this way, they promote a sustainable approach to shipbuilding.
A strategic location
Next to the Port Atlantique La Rochelle – La Pallice
The location of our new workshop has been carefully considered to maximize its accessibility and potential. Indeed, with our location close to the port of La Pallice, we have direct access to the launching docks, optimizing the logistics of our operations. Our shipyard extends over a vast, well-positioned plot of land, ideal for the development of our future projects.
